Don't turn into a pumpkin!
With temperatures hovering in the 70s this week, it's hard to believe that Fall is already upon us. But, if you just take a look around at all the Halloween directions, and the plethora of pumpkins, it's clear that it's Autumn in New England. Let's take a look at what events are in store, as well as properties new to the market in the area.
Apple Picking & Pumpkin Patches
Few things can beat apple picking or choosing that perfect pumpkin to get you into the Fall mood. Below are some of our favorite places to visit in the Boston area. Make sure to click on the links for hours and pricing.
Belkin Family Lookout Farm: www.lookoutfarm.com
Located closest to the city at 16.9 miles, this farm is one of the oldest working farms in the country. Featuring not just apples, but Asian pears and pumpkins too, Lookout Farm is fun for the whole family. Headed there on a weekend? Enjoy the hay pyramid, moon bounce, face painting, farm animals, and train rides. Not bringing the kids with you? Feel free to head to the taproom at the farm.
Connors Farm: www.connorsfarm.com
Featuring apple picking all week, this Danvers farm really comes alive on the weekends with a corn maze, hayrides, bouncy house, and pumpkin tetherball (be careful of your head!). In past years, Connors Farm has also celebrated Halloween. Friday and Saturday nights have featured a haunted farm with flashlight maze, haunted corn fields, and zombie safari paintball.
Honeypot Hill: www.honeypothill.com
A more traditional and well-known farm, Honeypot Hill is one of the Boston area's premier orchards. In addition to apple picking, this Stow, MA farm also offers hayrides, fresh cider, cider doughnuts, caramel apples, apple pies, and Bosc pears on weekends. Try not to get lost in the new Big Green Monster Hedge Maze!
Salem, MA
More than 250,000 people flock to Salem every year for its Haunted Happenings Festival from October 1st to October 31st. Easily accessed by rail, car, and ferry, Salem may be best known as the site of the witch trials of 1692, which remains a strong part of the city's cultural identity to this day. If witchcraft isn't your bag of tricks (or spells), Salem truly offers something for everyone. Rich in history, and the birthplace of the National Guard, there are several museums and notable houses to visit, including the famed House of the Seven Gables. Throughout the month of October, there are constant events, attractions, and festivals. Visit www.salem.org for a calendar of happenings.
